Hotel QT 125 W 45th Street
Aimed at the hip but budget-conscious traveller, Hotel QT offers a stripped-down service that doesn’t compromise on style. It falls somewhere between an upmarket youth hostel and a luxurious boutique hotel, attracting a crowd of predominantly young up-and-coming arts and media types.
The 140 rooms are small and compact, featuring free wi-fi, flat-screen televisions, DVD players and Egyptian cotton bedding. Extras are optional – guests choose the contents of their mini bar from a kiosk in the lobby, and the 'room service' consists of take-out fliers from local restaurants.
The biggest draw is the 22ft indoor pool in the lobby, which has an adjacent bar and nightly DJs to keep the swimmers entertained. QT has no restaurant, but its central location off Times Square means you won’t have to go far to find one.

This midtown Manhattan boutique hotel occupies one of the best spots in town – a stone’s throw from Times Square but also overlooking Bryant Park, one of the prettiest green spaces in the city.
Formerly the 1924 American Radiator Building, the hotel features a gothic-inspired tower and black-brick exterior, which was the subject of Georgia O’Keeffe’s 1927 painting ‘Radiator Building – Night, New York’.
The 130 spacious rooms offer ultra-modern minimalist luxury; extras include 32-inch LCD flat-screen TVs with in-room movies, ipod docking stations, internet access, goose-down comforters and cashmere robes. Downstairs, the East Coast branch of chic Los Angeles restaurant Koi has been pulling in a fashionable crowd since it first opened in 2005.

W Times Square 1567 Broadway
In a city where extraordinary sights are an everyday occurrence, the W Times Square manages the rare achievement of being genuinely startling.
Guests arriving at the hotel pass through an entrance of cascading, glass-enclosed water and are whisked up to the fourth floor where they check in at the futuristic Living Room – a large sleek lounge, dominated by a black lacquer bar, and surrounded by white leather seating tubes and glowing mesh alcoves. The guest rooms boast impressive views of Manhattan, and what they might lack in space they make up for in opulence.
More than just a hotel, the W Times Square also features jazz and sushi favourite the Blue Fin restaurant, and The Whiskey club, where the dance floor is tiled with cells of coloured liquid.

Guests are invited to escape to the sanctuary of the second-floor Reading Room, where complimentary refreshments are served throughout the day, including a lavish continental breakfast buffet and a wine and cheese reception every evening. Alternatively, they can retreat to the beautiful mahogany panelled Writer’s Den, which features a terrace and glowing fireplace.

Dylan Hotel 52 East 41st Street
The Dylan is an elegant and modern boutique hotel situated in the heart of Manhattan, a short walk from Grand Central Station, Times Square and Central Park.
Originally the Chemists’ Club, this 1903 beaux-arts building has been meticulously restored, with opulent public spaces and a magnificent grand staircase spiralling up three floors. The interior, by designer Jeffrey Beers, has deliberately avoided the stark and overly-hip designs commonly found in New York’s high-end boutique market. Instead, the emphasis is on contemporary elegance and comfortable luxury.
The rooms are well-appointed, with high ceilings and ebony furniture. The room to book, if you can, is the beautiful Alchemy Suite, which was once the library and features an impressive vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows.
