Shabestan Bin Yas St, Deira
Widely regarded as serving the best Persian cuisine this side of the Gulf, Shabestan is an award-winning establishment offering the quintessential Middle Eastern dining experience.
The specialties are unashamedly Persian, and while carnivores will be licking their chops over the slow-cooked lamb and variety of succulent skewers, there’s more than enough vegetable content and freshly baked flat bread to keep all parties satisfied.
As with so many restaurants here, Shabestan’s food is complemented by the atmosphere and ambience. The views over the Creek may be distinctively Dubai, but when the entertainment pipes up, your immersion in Persian hospitality will be complete.

Al Mahara Burj Al Arab
Atmospheric (or should that be aquatic?) dining is certainly one way of describing a meal at Al Mahara. But the ambience alone won’t define your experience because the seafood on offer is some of the very best to be found.
The extraordinarily fresh offering is permeated with a hint of Chinese inspiration and the restaurant’s innovative and sumptuous cuisine has been duly decorated with a swag of awards.
As for the surrounds... after being submerged on entrance in a three minute simulated submarine tour, you’ll find yourself enveloped in the aqua theme, with the massive centrepiece aquarium resplendent and teeming. But leave the wetsuit (and jeans) at the hotel. Dress code is semi-formal and gentlemen are required to wear a collared, long-sleeve shirt.

Focaccia Hyatt, Deira
Located in the Hyatt, Focaccia brings a distinctly Mediterranean flavour to the desert. With authentic pizza, pasta and the freshest seafood, you’ll be forgiven for forgetting where you are.
Focaccia has managed to marry homely Italian with the panache of modern Dubai. The restaurant is situated on the mezzanine floor of the hotel and has kept loyal to the idea of the Italian country house. However, the balconies probably offer even more appeal. With stunning views over the Gulf, Focaccia is the perfect spot to soak up the late afternoon rays while enjoying a spot of al fresco dining.
Focaccia also dedicates evenings to showcasing some of their specialities. Book in for Wednesday if you’re a pasta connoisseur, or wait until Saturday to indulge in the carnivorous delights of the BBQ.

Vu’s Emirates Towers
A meal at Vu’s really is a head in the clouds – if there were any – dining experience. Situated on the 50th floor of the Emirates Towers, the restaurant stands imperiously over downtown Dubai.
Vu’s ticks all the boxes for a special occasion, with the panorama and chic surrounds an impressive addition to the cuisine. French inspired contemporary fine dining is order of the day, with a number of a la carte choices, and wine list, to satisfy most. An evening itinerary should include a rapid ascent to Vu’s cocktail bar on the 51st floor, where you’ll get in the mix before strolling down a floor to take your seat.
Decorated recently for serving the Best Business Lunch in Dubai, the restaurant’s lofty reputation continues to grow. Be sure to make a booking.

Al Muntaha Burj Al Arab
Towering 200 metres above the Gulf, Al Muntaha is yet another of the Burj Al Arab’s plethora of spectacular eateries. While the inspiring views are likely to capture your attention immediately, the Mediterranean specialities are equally as eye catching.
The Burj has quickly established itself as a must-see symbol of Dubai, and a trip to Al Muntaha will allow you several hours to enjoy the view.
Fortunately, the 200 metres can be conquered in one of the express, panoramic lifts, which travel at a swift six metres per second. Although typically sophisticated, the atmosphere in Al Muntaha is suitably laidback. With plenty of bespoke cocktails on the mixology drinks trolley, it won’t be hard to relax and take in the views.
